Gibbon it up for the monkeys

Daily Echo

MORE than 1,000 towels have winged their way to Monkey World thanks to the public. After the Purbeck rescue centre contacted 2CR FM about their need for towels and blankets as the winter weather bit, the station decided to run an appeal for donations. Just two weeks later, a pile of linen was dropped off at Monkey World after an overwhelming response. Lauren Pinkney, from 2CR, said: “When the appeal was launched we never expected such a huge response and since the launch, day by day more and more towels are dropped off at the station. “The Thunders (the station’s 4x4 vehicles) have also been to over 100 schools, businesses and individuals to pick up their donations.” Because of the sheer number of towels, blankets and bed linen donated, some extra help had to be drafted in on Friday.
